What area of New York City has the cheapest (clean) hotels with good accessibility to Manhatten?

JASON P asked:

I want to catch the sites of New York (ie. times square, central park etc..)for a few days but don’t want to pay $200+ a night for hotel rooms in Manhatten.

I’ve been to manhattan 2 x……The first time I stayed at The belvedere….about $165 a nigh- good clean rooms….We walked to time square everynight- it was so close….

2nd trip I wanted mega cheap- I found it for $65 a night, but I has walking distance to Macy’s empire ect….The room is VERY small and had a twin bed. It is also shared bathrooms. It is older, but very clean!!!!!!!!! americana hotel

A hotel room for me has always been just a place to crash- I don’t need much but cleanliness…. I spend every waken moment roaming the cities i’m visiting…Good luck Jason. If you want more info you can email me
