What is the best/easiest and cheapest transportation from NY to NJ?

best hotels NY
emmy asked:

I am staying in New York overnight for an event on Friday. On Saturday I am going to New Jersey for the Zootopia concert. What is the easiest (and cheapest) way to get from my hotel in Brentwood, NY to the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ? And if all else fails, will a NY cab drive to another state? (I really don’t wanna go that route - the price is ouch! lol)

Brentwood to East Rutherford is about 55 miles. There really is no decent public transportation, best way would be by car

Forget a taxi, it would be a fortune.

My friend, you can take the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch from Brentwood Station to Penn Sation.

Once at Penn Station, transfer to the subway. Take the uptown (northbound) A, C or E train from Penn Station to 42nd Street - PA Bus Terminal.

At the Port Authority Bus Terminal, take NJ Transit bus route #351 to the Meadowlands. The bus serves Giants Stadium and the Izod Center.

The entire trip (60 miles) will take anywhere between 2 and 2 and a half hours. The fare is as followed:

LIRR to Penn Station: $9.75 each way off peak
NYC subway from Penn Station to 42nd Street: $2 each way
NJ Transit Bus from PA Bus Terminal to the Meadowland: $11 round trip.

I hope this information is very helpful. Good luck and enjoy the show.
